Poem: Kidnapped

Shut

sooty

door. I grip

the knob, sucked in

deep breaths. Turning the

handle, a sliver of

light invites me to freedom.

Hands from behind clasp my

shoulders and take me back.

I break into tears.

The hand shuts

over my

mouth.
